| May is not going to be a good time to plant shrubs for the landscape. They will not have time to establish good roots befor the heat sets in. If she has time to see that they are well watered, they might do OK, but if she can wait until the fall or next February or March, it will be better. The Great Southern Nursery and Hester and Zipperers are two good ones. Hester's has three different stores in Savannah. There are smaller ones. There are also specialized ones such as Joiner's Daylilies. Joiner's will have the display garden open in May. It's well worth a trip. Just be sure that you don't get anything from California, especially from Monrovia, as Georgia and other states have placed a quarantine on shipments from there. The Sudden Oak Death fungus seems to be spreading from there. There are other nurseries, but I think they are strictly wholesale. PB |
