Damaged Korean Stewartia

We had torrential heavy rain here awhile back and our 15 foot tall Korean Stewartia took a real beating. The branches were all knocked down, many of the lower ones now dragging the ground. This was a beautiful tree with upright branches prior to this. Wondering if the tree will eventually recover, or whether I will need to prune the lower branches so I can eventually mow around the tree again.
