Are Crepe Myrtles grafted?

Hi all,

Took a trip up to Tennessee this week and was amazed at the incredibe beauty and variety of Crepe Mytles along the roads. I was thinking it would be fun to take cuttings and propagate several of them but I'm not sure if crepe myrtles are grafted or on their own roots.

Anybody know?

Thanks in advance,

Bob

They are on their own roots. You can take softwood cuttings at any time and they should root quite readily.

My sister in TN has them sprout from seeds in the yard. Darn pretty weed!
