fir or spruce trees

has anyone had any sucess growing any kind of fir(abies) or spruce(picea) in the southeast. i know that japanese fir will grow in the southeast and possibly chihuahua spruce will too. other than that i have heard that the norway spruce and the coast redwood will grow in the southeast

There are plenty of very successful conifers that thrive in the southeast, but the ones you've mentioned do not.
