Oh my poor geraniums

Please offer any help or advice to help me salvage my poor geraniums. They are in planters (in the shade out of the hot sun) and are leggy having have thrown much of their leaves, flower blooms are very small and desperate looking. I don't think they need water, I've tried to be diligent, I'm pretty sure they need food, but have given them some. Does anyone have a triage routine I can start to bring them back to full and beautiful life. We've had very, very little rain for the last 3 months so they are only getting deep well water, that is very hard with lots of scale. Is it the heat, the water, the food?
