Growing Mint in Southern Coastal Florida

| Ive tried to grow peppermint and spearmint any number of times and the plant always gets woody and gangly within a month. It looks horrible and ultimately gets thrown out.
Ive tried to plant it in the ground, as well as in a container. Nothing seems to help. Would it help to group several mint plants together Any suggestions?? Thank You |

| The warmth of the rainy season, the sandy fertile soil and the rainfall makes mints grow so fast that it's never as lush and pretty as it would be if grown in a more northerly zone. Have you tried a severe cut-back pruning of the mints when it gets leggy? It should rejuvenate, but hardly a monthly event you want to have to do. |
