Late summer veggies

The extension service and some local gardening books say you can plant a second crop of beans, cucumbers, squash, and potatoes in late August. Has anyone had any luck with this second harvest or should I just wait until fall to plant cool weather veg...Thanks for the input...deb

My Father used to do it all the time.....and that was inland S. GA. Go plant them now and you'll enjoy another harvest.
