Canna Lilie blight

| My cannas are producing new leaves that are wrapped in dead, dried plant material where the fresh, new, uncurling leaf is trapped in the dry, unyeilding material. We did have an especially hot and dry June. Is this a symptom of the plant becoming stressed in the hot weather or is it blight? I cleaned up my plants after that month and it is still happening. |

It sounds like you might have leaf rollers. Unfurl the leaves and see if there are caterpillars inside. I have squished the ones I've found. Don't know what kind of insecticide you would use. Sevin probably. Barb |

| From what I've read that is a result of underwatering/drought. Parts of the leaf tissue dies before emerging and then produces dead edges and most likely what you're experiencing. You could cut them off if they're too unsightly, but the plant should be fine as long as they get enough water going forward. So next summer keep them wet! |
