ideas for west facing area.....?

We lost a huge shade tree to hurricane Frances and now my shade garden (West side of house) is no longer a shade garden! I have moved most of the shade plants but am at a loss as for what to put there. The area gets morning shade and hot afternoon sun. So many plants prefer the opposite here (morning sun/afternoon shade). What do you have planted that does well in your west-facing gardens?

| Plumbago, sago palm, caladiums, tropical hibiscus, begonias, rose mallow, esperanza, ixora, mandevilla, geraniums, Areca palm, and floribunda roses. These are all in containers on my west facing patio and the sun gets there about 11 a.m. |
