sarcococca in northeast Florida

Some catalogs and books suggest that various Sarcococca species will grow into zone 9. I tried Sarcococcoa confusa and C. hookerana var. humilis. After three years, S. confusa is growing into a nice evergreen shrub but it never flowers. S. hookerana var. humilis sat in the ground declining for nearly two years before dying last summer. Does anyone have success with any of the Sarcococca species at the southern border of zone 8 or into zone 9?

It looks like these messages stay at the top of the list until they get a reply. Maybe this posting will drift down the list now.
