green garden tomatoes

When the freeze hit this weekend my tomato plants took a
big hit,dont know if they will come back.The tomatoes are a nice size and it looks like i may have to pick them green.My question is what is the best way to have them
rippen?

| I put them single-layer in old beer boxes (24-can flats).Cover with a single sheet of newspaper,put them in a cool dry basement.Pick out the damaged ones,they will rot.Check them every two weeks,pick out the ripe,the near ripe,the rotten.Enjoy. |

| I'd have fried green tomatoes....yum, just thinking about it makes my mouth water!! Betty |

| I have also put green tomatoes on the floor of my pantry in the dark and they rippened real well. I spread newspaper on the floor and placed them so that they didn't touch. We ate ripe tomatoes on into January!!! |

Dancey--Have used your method for years--its the one I learned from my parents. And people it really works-- just make sure you leave a little space between each one and check them often! |
