Zinnias / Moonflower still not dry for harvesting!

Hi all - It is nearly November, there's been a few nights of freeze and neither my zinnia heads or my moonflower vine pods are dried to the point where I should be harvesting. (From what I've read).

They don't seem very damaged by the freeze, but why aren't they drying? Can I clip the zinnia heads off and dry them in the windowsill? I'm afraid if it gets much colder the moonflower pods will be mush. Any suggestions?

take apart a seedhead and see how far developed the seeds are. if they look dark and well developed, then you can cut them off and dry them on a paper plate indoors for a few days.
