Smells Good

I saved seeds for the first time last season and opened my bag of seeds today. Wow, what a fragrance. I always store my seeds that I used to buy from the store in the same bag, ziploc sealed and never got the scent I did as when I opened my own bag of saved seeds! Here's hoping they take, I'm tempted to use them as potpourri instead.

I'm curious about what it was that had such a nice fragrance...even as saved seeds...sounds like something I might 'need.'

If you like sweet smelling seeds, don't take a whiff of penstemon 'Husker Red'. Yuk!

Oh gosh yes! I just made a post about this. Some penstemons make awful scented seeds--like a three month old catbox on a rainy day. Yuchh.

Often, seeds of herb plants with sweetly scented foliage, like monarda, fennel and anise will also have the same scent.

Penstemmon Husker Red smells like feet to me. yeeewwwoo.

I love the scent of Anise hyssop - very nice.
