Threshing Broom Corn

Hello Fellow Seed Savers!

Last year I grew broom corn for the first time and I would like to grow it again and share some seeds but I can't tell if the seeds are there, or just really hard to free from the stalk. After I cut them down last fall I put them in a paper bag thinking that the seeds would fall out into the bag. I keep checking but there are no seeds in the bag. It feels like there could be seeds on the stalk, little hard beads, but getting them out is devilishly difficult. Is there a better way, or are the seeds gone and I am picking out some other seedlike part? Will the seeds grow if not properly removed from the casing? I dunno, so many questions...

If anyone does know, I would sure appreciate advice. Thanks!

Fleety
