How to save Primula seeds

I've never saved seeds before and thought I'd give it a try this year since I spend so much money on seeds each year.

I have some primula primroses growing as houseplants right now. How do I save the seeds from these? I've been deadheading the plants so do I save the seed pod and then let it dry ? And then take the seeds out of the pod? How long does it take for the pod to dry?

Or should I not be deadheading and leave the pods there?

To form seed, the plants need to be pollinated. I am going to assume that you have not done this yourself with a paint brush- and unless you have lots of flying insects in your house... there probably won't be any seed to save anyways. Primulas can be very difficult to save seed from for a beginner, as many varieties have tiny dust-like seeds. I am not trying to discourage you, but may I suggest you start saving seeds from your outdoor plants this summer.

since I'm pretty clueless on this topic (LOL!), I think I'll take your suggestion and start with the outdoor plants this year. I'm keeping busing planting the seeds I already have. Thanks for the advice.
