I have grown hybrid tomatoes from saved seed. They always reverted back to one of the parent varieties. The tomatoes were perfectly edible but were no longer the variety I saved from. If one does this, the tomatoes produced might be perfectly fine and look and even taste the same, but the plants might have lost the disease resistance that was bred into the plants, which may have been the reason for hybridizing in the first place.

I have had luck with a hybrid dwarfed container tomato. The seed has not been available lately that I can find and it is still pretty much the same plant as the original (and still as bland and mediocre flavored) after four seasons (generations). I expect it to fail sooner or later. The only reason I still grow it is that my sisters and some friends like it and want it, and the plants produce my earliest tomatoes every year.

Give it a try. Have fun but do not rely on them for your crop. You only have one shot at success every year so do not take the risk of a failed crop due to experimentation.
