Seeds to old???

Hello I am a total newbie to this whole gardening thing. I was out in the barn the other day and cleaning out some boxes and came across a whole box of seeds I had purchased in 2002 for the 2003 growing season. How long are seeds good for? Will any of these seeds germinate? I really hope they will as I paid a bunch of money for them and really would like to start a garden. I have all kinds of seeds packets, unopened. About 60 packets of all different kinds of morning glories, about 30 packets of cleome, 20 packets of columbine, 10 packets of cantebury bells, etc, etc. If its not too late for these little ones, is it too late in the season to start any of them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Steve
