Hollow Cantaloupe Seeds

Hi,
I recently saved seeds from 4 different and very tasty melons. After saving them I put them in a bowl of water and noticed that they all floated. I decided to dry them for a week anyways and give it a shot. After they've all dried I've broken a few and noticed they're all hollow from the inside!

I bought the cantaloupe from a street vendor, can they have been GMOs?

And should I just compost/throw away these seeds?
