Will Iris seed pods harvested while GREEN be viable?

Hi,

If I harvested the seed pods of (Aquatic) Blue Flag Iris, Yellow Flag Iris, Siberian Iris, and/or Marsh Marigold while they are still green, yet fully formed seed pods, will the (not yet black) white seeds inside the pods be able to germinate, if allowed to dry and the pod open up - on its own? (I want to pick the seeds off of Irises on a friend's property at this time of year, while pods have been formed for the last month).

No...they need to dry on the stem...they should slightly crack open first then you can harvest them....

They take quite a while to mature and dry on the plant.
