can you help me identify this flower?

When I was a kid, I remember popping seed pods of a tall one-stemmed plant that had pods very similar to impatiens. Does anyone know what it could be?

Thanks,
B

Sounds like garden phlox or even dames rocket but without a picture it would be hard to guess. So many flowers that the discription may sound the same. If you end up getting a picture maybe post it on the name that plant forum I am sure you would get very fast results.

Hi,
you are probably thinking of Balsam aka Touch-me-nots(Impatiens balsamina.) They are a favorite of kids.
