Mum seedlings.

I split and transplanted hardy mums (6) into a new garden last year. The garden soil is optimal for growing because I had truck loads brought in for this new garden. This year it looks like I've got about 50 mum plants coming up. Is this even possible??

Not very likely. Chrysanthemums do not usually self sow. But you may have multiple shoots coming up from the original roots. If you post a picture on the Name that Plant Forum we can id the plant. One thing you can do yourself is rub some foliage. Does it smell like Chrysanthemums?
