One of my neighbors has oriental poppies in a neon tangerine shade. I've never seen flowers that color before.

I stopped to ask about the flowers and discovered that the neighbors had sold the house and were moving.

So my question is: if I collect seeds from those plants, can I grow oriental poppies and get that color?

Is it worth my time to go and knock on the door and ask the new owners if I can collect seed pods from their plants?

If it is worthwhile collecting the seeds, I'd appreciate any advice on how to end up with the best success with the seeds.
