RE: sweet basil!

Seems early to let Basil go to seed. But if is already there let the spike dry on the plant till they turn tan. Look in the clusters on the stem and you will see 4 black seeds. Snip off flower stem and continue to dry inside. Soon the little clusters can be pulled off by pulling the stem through your fingers and letting the flower clusters fall on a plate. Then take these in your hands and rub between palms to release seeds. Then gently blow away the dried chaff and save seeds!

RE: sweet basil!

Hi,

I have been harvesting basil all season and have not let flowers form. I now see a flower formed but not open on the plant..but it is Sept. Will the basil plant have time to flower/set seed and ripen in time?
