Harvesting Seeds from Bluebell Flower

I would like to save some seeds from a California Bluebell flower. The plant has these lantern-like structures after the flowers fall off (see pic), and inside each is a bunch of very small white balls, which I can only assume are the seeds.
Getting these little guys out is a pain, and they are all very moist.
My question is this- should I just pick off each little lantern for saving, or do I need to open them and dry out the little white ones? Can I plant that lantern or do I need to spread the little white ones?

Thanks!
