Question about Angels choir poppy seeds

I just collected some seed pods from my Angels choir poppys.

All four heads where dry with little openings under the cap.

The seeds from 3 of the heads where all black. The 4th pod had all brownish tan seeds in it. This head was the dryest of all 4 heads. Are these brown seeds ripe? I planted the seeds in hunks from WS, so there where several different colors growing together. Could it be that some of the colors have different color seeds?

Any info will be appreciated

I don't know about Angels Choir, but I've been saving seed of another mix of Shirley poppies for the last couple of years and their seeds seem to vary in color somewhat. Some are more brownish and others are more grayish. I wouldn't be at all surprised if your brown seeds are mature, especially if the pod was from a plant with a slightly different colored flower.

thanks for your thoughts bitterwort. I'm going to WS both collections of seeds in separate containers and see what happens. There where several different colors of poppies in each of the hunks I planted. Will know if those brown seeds are mature next spring.
