I moved into a place that has some of the pretties purple gladiolus that I have ever seen. They are really really tall too. right now they are setting seed like there will be no tomorrow. the flower is a single and the color is more puple at the edge and is streaked with white on the inside.

Is there any way to know if these are viable? Other than putting them in the ground and seeing if any thing comes up?

The viable seeds will be like hard chips. The thin easy to bend ones are no good.
You will not get the same colors as your plants now. That doesn't mean the babies won't be pretty, just different.
