Do Fennel and Dill Cross?

I read a lot about them crossing and producing a bad tasting result. I read that some "botanists" say that because they are in the Apiaceae (aka Umbelliferae) Family they can cross. But they are both of a different genus and species.

It was my understanding that the ability for cross pollination to occur it was determined on the species level. E.g. a zucchini and a butternut squash will not cross as they are of different species.

According to
http://howtosaveseeds.com/seedsavingdetails.php#carrotfamily

carrots, dill, fennel, cilantro, parsley are all of different species and even genera. This seems from a more reliable source than the random post from people who say they will cross.

So what is the consensus here? I would like to know as I am trying to get some fennel seed but the neighbors garden some 20 ft. away is letting their dill go nuts. In addition I have cilantro I am trying to get some coriander seed from.

Thanks for the thoughts
