Saving potatoes as seeds

Jonathan

Hello,

Is it okay to save potatoes as seeds? I've got a nice crop of various types of fingerlings. This is my first year growing them.

Assuming the answer is yes, do you have any tips? And specifically:

1. Does it matter if I save big ones or tiny ones? Are they like garlic, where you plant the biggest ones, to accustom them to your soil?

2. Can/should ones with bits of green be used as seeds?

3. What about funny shaped ones, particularly ones that seem to have little nodule like growths on them?

Any advice would be appreciated. I understand that potatoes shouldn't be planted in the same bed two years consecutively.
