Ok. I took off on of the open brown former location of a flower and got a dark brown / black seed (I think out of it). What I don't know is: is that the seed? is there some coating that I have to take off to expose the actual seed?

If I remember correctly the little pods up and down the top of the stem do open and you shake the seed out. But, I also recall that once those seeds are ripe, you have to get them right away or they will fall out.

I don't save this seed anymore as obedient is somewhat of a thug for me and is so easy to propagate by division. I hope this helps.

I just tilted the brown stems over and the seeds fell in my hands.

I normally cut off the seedheads and dump them in a paper bag then shake the dickens out of it!

Shaking in a bag - good idea. I'm going to try that!
