seed collecting after a rain

We have started a stretch of rainy weather here in Michigan. How will this affect the seeds I want to collect? Will the ripe seeds rot in their pods while they sit outside? Are they still good, but I need to dry them out longer? Help a seed collecting newbie. I want to make sure I'm trading good seeds.

Hi Squirrel,
Don't worry about the rain hurting them. They are designed to withstand the weather : )
Try to wait until it stops raining. If you know the seeds are going to disappear, or it just won't stop raining, then go get them even if it is raining. As soon as you get them inside during rain, put them on paper plates or paper towels spread out to dry. Keeping them in a bag might hold in too much moisture and cause molding that will kill the seed.
