The remnants of Hanna and a severe thunderstorm yesterday knocked down 2 of my sunflowers.

I brought the blooms in the house and put them in a vase, but noticed that on one of the branching stems of one of the sunflowers the petals where all gone and the center part was all coming off.

I also noticed the same thing on the other kind of sunflower bloom as well.

I can see well formed seeds, but they are not ripe. They look sort of half purple and the back of the flower head is still green.

I put them in water and now wonder if the seeds will continue to develop and ripen and if they do will they be viable.

Do you think there is a chance I will get seeds for next year from those 2 flower heads or am I just wasting time keeping them in water?
