Saving morning glory & coneflower seeds

Newbie here!! Bare with me..LOL. I see the seeds on my morning glory vine, do I wait until they are brown before I collect them?

I also have been saving seeds (I think) from my coneflower plant. The heads are dry and the pokie parts on the cone fall off when I run my finger over them, is this the seeds, or are the seeds different than what I am seeing?

Any advice from you will be sooo welcome.

When the morning glory seeds are ready the pods will be brown, thin and papery, alot like onion skins. I let the seeds dry (spread out in a shallow dish) at least another week after collecting before putting them away.
The coneflower seeds sort of look like little obelisks.

the coneflower seed is usually white - not the prickly part of the flower that hurts...

Thanks!!! I will be sooo glad when I get really good at seed saving so I don't have to pester everyone here. LOL!
