 o
Chinese Long beans... success in bagging blossoms

I'm the Arkansas gardener with the hummingbird problem in cross-pollinating my Purple pod long beans. I have had to experiment with a couple of techniques, but I have finally succeeded in making a bag from coffee filters that works.

I posted pix (overview and detail) in Garden Galleries>Great Vegetables. Pix were taken in the rain... my digital camera tucked inside a gallon Ziplock freezer bag... cuz I just had to show how those embroynic bean pods looked against the sky.

I have slightly changed design when I made the last 100 bags... I now stitch twice... on opposite sides... so the ends are easier to rip off once the beans develop.

Pix tells most... go look!
