Once all the little flowerets have dried and fallen off, carefully remove the flower spikes and (without turning them upside down) place them in a paper bag. The seed will all easily fall out if the bag is gently shaken. Let dry on an open plate for a few more days to ensure they are completely dry. If left on the plant, gold finches will eat the seed. I store my seeds in empty film cannisters, but in an envelope in a tightly closed cookie tin works also. These are great winter sowers,and readily self-seed.

Thanks! Sounds easy enough. Looks like I'll be trying my hand at winter sowing this winter. And it will be interesting to see if I get any volunteers this spring, too.
