Question about unripe seed pods

I have a member who is seeking a trade. They have seed pods that they collected before they ripened on the plants. They brought the seed pods inside and allowed them to dry. My question is, if I make a trade with this person for these pods that did not ripen on the plant, is there a good chance they will be viable? I'm familiar with seed saving, having done so for many years, but if I'm worried about birds, squirrels, etc, I usually just tie a bit of panty hose around them to protect them and wait for them to ripen. I'm concerned about what I will end up with... or not.. in this trade.

So, if one plucks a seed pod before it ripens on the plant, are the seeds usually mature and viable? We're talking about hosta pods, trumpet vine pods, hibiscus, and blanket flower.
