Looks like a type of orange cosmos to me. Try goggling Cosmos sulphureus and see if it's a match.

I agree, it is a Cosmos. I love them and they are one of the easiest to save seed from, in my opinion.

The shape of the seeds tell me it is a Cosmos - the flower looks like Ladybird - a variety I have grown for the past 2 years.

If the plants are about a foot high, they are likely Lemonbird Cosmos. I grow them and your pictures are spot on for both blooms and seeds.

thanks so much for your help everyone ! this is my second year of saving seeds and I am still learning ! but it is so much fun ! Now I have to figure out how to harvest the seeds from my lemon basil .... lol
