are hiding or something. I'm having a devil of a time discerning what part of the plant is actually the seed. Are the seeds small & powdery or bigger? Also, should I cut down the huge agastaches when I put my garden to bed? Or should I just let them be? I'm in zone 5 here in SE Michigan, if that helps at all.

If you let the flower spike dry until brown, then cut, place in a jar and shake - you will see a bunch of little round seeds on the bottom of the jar. If the flower is nice and dry and brown the seed falls right out easily when you shake the jar and is very easy to spot. Seeds are similar in size to poppy seeds. I would not cut the plant back until it starts putting out new growth in spring. Not sure how others do it but I feel that it gives the plant a little more winter protection. Lynda

Lynda thanks for the advice. I will try the jar method. How does the agastache look covered in snow? Picturesque I hope. I love to have some winter interest in the garden. BTW your gardens are beautiful.

Hi Carol5 - Our agastaches usually don't look like much during the winter. Of course, if yours are giant they may be more interesting. Thanks for the comment on my garden! Lynda
