Datura Seed pods

Hi,
I grew a purple datura I bought from a nursery this
spring.
We have had a couple of freezes here in my zone 5b and
I just pulled off some mushy seed pods.

Are they still ok to save? Or should have I pulled
them off before freeze? Does it matter?

Right now, they are on my counter drying out.

Thanks,
Mary

Hi Mary,
Are the seeds inside mature looking either brown or black?

Hi Remy,
My seeds are brown and tan, but I only opened up
one of them.
The pods are still kind of mushy, but should dry out in
a couple of days [hopefully].

Thanks,
Mary

Hi Mary,
They really needed to be ripe enough before the pods were removed from the plants. That is why I asked what color the seeds were. Your seeds are brown(some varieties have black seed)so they are ripe and can come out of the mushy pods and dry on their own. There is no reason to leave them in the pods. : )
