| Hi all, please call me Carol. I'm a newbie gardner & friends gave me seeds this fall. I put them in envelopes, then into a tight tin & put them in my garage. My concern is the temp has fallen to around zero deg. F here in Michigan. Last night one of my gardening friends was here & he said they might be dead. I have brought them indoors now in a cool but not freezing spot. Here is my list of seeds: poppies, coreopsis, zinnia, larkspur, morning glory, tall marigolds and cleomes. TIA

| You did not kill your seeds. If cold weather killed seeds, there wouldn't be any plants in most parts of the world. All of the seeds you listed are seeds I will be putting outdoors in the next few weeks to be frozen until spring. In the spring they will pop up just fine after being out in snow and cold for months. Check out the Winter Sowing forum and you will find hundreds of folks putting there seeds outside in the freezing cold right now. |

| They are seeds I store in the freezer!! Your seeds will be fine. A cool/cold and DRY environment is what you want for seed storing (unless winter sowing, of course)! |

| Thank you Rosa & Nurmey, I feel so much better knowing I didn't kill my 1st babies. I visited the winter sowing forum & they agreed with you. Don't know if I'll get up the nerve to winter sow, but I might. Sure sounds interesting. I have soooo much to learn...sigh. |
