Phlox in part shade

| Are there varieties of garden phlox that will perform in part shade? I have a black walnut tree that shades my garden for half the day, and phlox are supossed to be Juglone tolerant. Any advice would be helpful. |

| Look for the woodland type phlox, P. divaricata, stolonifera or subulata or hybrids of these. These all tolerate quite a lot of shade but are lower growing, more mat-like groundcover types. Garden phlox, P. paniculata, will tolerate partial shade but will be less leggy and more floriferous in full sun. |
