Under the oaks

I inherited this yard. There are many different things going on under the oaks. Can anyone suggest a more uniform look. I was thinking of making each garden smaller and planting giant liriope around one and azaleas around the other 2. Any ideas?

I think it looks nice as it is...each planting is wrapped with uniform border planting, tying them together...
