two hours of mid-day sun -- and that's it... flowers?

I want to get some nice blooms going on the west side of my house, which gets unobstructed sun for just a couple of hours in the early afternoon. (Total shade the rest of the time.) We get a lot of hot weather here, but it's more moderate than some parts of southern Virginia since it's near the water. These are the seeds I've bought, some are started --- what do you guys think?

Viola, alyssum, forget me not, larkspur, columbine, gladiolus bulbs. Morning glories, maybe? Sweet peas? Anything else nice I should consider?

I figure the hollyhocks, nasturtiums, and four o'clocks --- not to mention the shasta daisies, asters, mexican sunflowers, and coneflowers --- will want all the full southern sun, even in this climate. Am I wrong?

Thanks. I'm deliriously happy with new yard but don't have much experience with ornamentals.
