Ivy in window well?

Posted by joeynova Virginia (My Page) on

I have a new basement window well about 4-5 feet deep, filled with gravel down 1-2 feet.

The well is lined with corrugated metal, which is very unattractive when looking out from the basement.

This weekend I planted two cuttings of English Ivy in it so that it would crawl up the well. I've read enough on here to know that people will try to scare the hell out of me re: Ivy.

It's brand new, and I can pull it out tomorrow if I have to, but I really want something to grow in it.

What would you recommend in Northern Virginia?

Curtains. Just kidding. I sure don't recommend the ivy. I spent several hours today trying to pull ivy out of our woods. I would think it would not be a good idea to plant anything in a window well.
