 o
ground cover for shade that can be seeded directly

I have a south facing yard in zone 6 (new jersey). The rear of the yard is predominently in shade, with some dappled sunlight midday. The soil is uneven and moist and can pond in areas during a heavy rainfall. I am looking for a groundcover seed that I can plant myself (area is approximately 45'x30'). Does anyone have any recommendations for plant material and best andf easiest method for sowing? Thank you in advance.

I don't think it's practical to start shade ground covers from seed. I can't think of any plants that will grow fast enough from seed in shade under a tree. You need to start with plants, otherwise, you'll just end up with weeds.

Here is a link that might be useful: Shade ground cover ideas
