Jacob's Ladder Placement

I have an enclosed urban garden in which I want to plant Jacob's Ladder Brise d'Anjou. My preferred planting spot is under eastern hemlocks and receives direct and dappled sunlight two hours after midday to about 2 hours before sunset. In all, the area gets about 4-5 hours of sunlight. Since Jacob's ladder doesn't do well with afternoon light, I also have another place that gets direct sunlight from about 9 am to 2 pm. I was wondering which place would be better.
