Bleeding heart let me down

I cannot believe it! I divided some bleeding heart and Jacobs ladder last fall. The new plants came up but the "mother" plants did not. Both are in the same garden, so maybe it was the enviornment this winter but I am still surprised and disappointed!!

My Gold Heart dicentra also is not growing much compared to my regular old-fashioneds. Not sure why, but I may try to add mors compost to top dress the area and water frequently and see if that helps... And Miracle grow :)
