northern exposure shade

I have a lot of shade in my yard due to a long northern exposure on my house. I think it might qualify as "bright shade" because the house walls are white and there is a detached garage about 25' away that is reflecting light. It is certainly not deep shade. My question is, will shrubs and other plants that grow in partial shade grow (and thrive) in this lighting environment? I am especially interested in knowing if I can grow boxwood and climbing hydrangea. I have followed the sunlight pattern this spring and there is never any direct sunlight hitting this area. I don't think the pattern will change much in the summer given the height and orientation of the house. Thank you for your thoughts and ideas!
