What should I plant where the moss is growing?

I have two strips of ground at my house that are generally covered with a light bed of moss. I assume this means shade, cooler than surrounding temperature, and moisture. Ferns and Hostas like such conditions, yes? Can you name other plants...especially flowering ones? I've always wanted to put azaleas in those spots, but I'm assuming that's a terrible idea?

If moss is growing that means the soil is acidic. It does not necessarily mean that the place is shaded. Spread on some agricultural lime or plant acid loving plants. Observe the strips at several times of the day and see just how much sun it does get before you plant.

Azaleas like acidic soil & would probably benefit with filtered light or morning light, but not necessarily. Mine gets decent light before the trees leaf out, but after that it's in mostly shade & does wonderfully. I do add acidic fertilizer every 3 months to help & water well.

Astilbe, Hosta, Pulmonaria and Heuchera, should do well.
