Mine just "emerged" and I am in Baltimore. which one did you plant? Fun to see those silver fronds coming up...the best part almost.

Don't despair yet. Some things planted the previous year will often be a little late to emerge during their first spring as they need time to adapt and reset their internal clocks. Bulbs and some perennials fall into this category. Wait for a nice warm spring rain (who knows when that will happen this year, lol!) and then...wham!...the plant will rocket out of the ground. Syneilesis is a pretty durable and tolerant plant in my experience! :-)

Just looked at this hybrid and (just planted), it now has a very weak part in it's stem just below foliage and is drooping over. Don't know whether this was an insect or something else>>>but arrrrgh!

This is palmata...does anyone grow "kikko' ? If so, do you know whether it is a slower grower ? Thanks
