Suggestions for tall and flowering in zone 5

Hello,

I am new to Garden Web and was hoping I could get some suggestions for some types of shade plants for zone 5. I live in the Chicagoland area so we get cold winters. I am looking for a flowering shade plant at least four feet high and at most three feet wide. Of course, I would love the flowers to be in bloom anytime between June and August. Please still suggest even if it doesn't. I already have the usual plants such as rhodendum, hostas, etc.

Any suggestions will be so greatly appreciated!

Astilbes - Look for a variety that meets your height requirement.
Depending on how much shade you have, asiatic and oriental
lilies will work too. Mine get some morning sun, and shade
the rest of the day.

Cimicifuga? Mine don't bloom until late fall but the plants are beautiful all season long.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I get about an hour of sun in the morning then all shade. I do have a cimicifuga but mine has not grown more than a foot in height in years. Also, mine has not flowered other than the first year. I have had it for several years. Maybe I'll try to add fertizer to it this year. I can always get some more lilies and look for the tallest astilbes. I do love them. Thanks again!!
